2005 Bengals Podcast Series: Brian Simmons/Rich Braham

This week, I chat with linebacker Brian Simmons and center Rich Braham. These two play on opposite sides of the ball but shared perspective on watching the Bengals transform from a laughingstock of the league into the one of the most exciting around upon earning their first and only playoff berths as pros.
Simmons, now a scout with the Jacksonville Jaguars, discusses his firsthand view of the rise and fall of Odell Thurman, why the Bengals clinching the division against Detroit is a day he will never forget and much more. Braham sheds light on the topic of why the offense was so advanced and, of course, his view lining up near Kimo Von Oelhoffen on the play that changed the season.

2005 Bengals Podcast Series: Deltha O'Neal

This week, I chat with cornerback Deltha O'Neal. He spent four years with the Bengals and enjoyed his best season as a pro in 2005. He set a Bengals record with 10 interceptions, went to the Pro Bowl and was named All-Pro. Along with partner in turnovers Tory James, O'Neal led the way on one of the most opportunistic defenses in team history. The Bengals picked off 31 passes in 2005. The next highest number in the Marvin Lewis Era? Twenty, notched each of the last two seasons.
The conversation runs the gamut with the fun-loving former first-round pick of the Broncos. He talks about the poor perceptions some rookies had originally arriving at Cincinnati, how Odell Thurman could have been in the same realm as Ray Lewis, his relationship with Marvin Lewis and what he witnessed from fans in the city that season that was unlike anyone had ever seen.

2005 Bengals Podcast Series: Chad Johnson/Hue Jackson

This week, I chat with Johnson/Ochocinco, who took on the Bengals national spotlight in 2005 when his outgoing personality rose to new levels. From The List, to end zone celebrations, franchise records and even a cheerleader proposal, nothing could stop Chad during the Bengals' rise. He became a motor for the entire team the city exploded into a blanket of No. 85 jerseys.
In the second half of the podcast I chat with 2005 Bengals WR coach and current offensive coordinator Hue Jackson about coaching Chad, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Henry and Kelly Washington as well as his relationship with Chad, his version of misreporting in the halftime incident and how that team can correlate to this year's group finally managing that playoff victory.

2005 Bengals podcast series: Willie Anderson

This week, I chat with Willie Anderson, who spent the majority of his career as a lone star on some of the worst Bengals teams in history. He experienced his first taste of true success in the NFL and talks about ugliness of the early years, why the team was able to reinvent itself, what made Chad Johnson tick, frustrations with his own exit from Cincinnati and the one off-field issue that could topple the expectations of the 2015 Bengals quicker than any other.
